DARRELL FRANKEN - Author
Darrell Franken is a psychologist . He is the
founder of LifeSkills Training Centers, that reach
as far as Singapore. He has books in 15 international
countries and in the majority of the United States.
His deepest passion is for writing social science ideas in
a way that will strongly convince persons to develop the
highest level of character, both from a secular point of view
and from a religious point of view. His research has brought
forth strong evidence that functioning at the higher levels
of values and lifeskills, delivers the greatest amount of
health, happiness, success and well-being. That is true
secularly as well as religiously.
His preparation in the social sciences came from
the University of Chicago. His doctoral work enabled him
to make some linkages between the social sciences,
research and religious truth. He spent most of
his professional career in counseling. His writing and
publishing has focused on skill-training. He has authored
three personality inventories. He has textbooks on Character
Education for the high school and college student, as
well as Christian materials for use in churches. Some of
his books are strictly secular and academic.
Some of his materials on problem prevention skills have
combined secular ideas with Biblical support, and vice versa.
Dr. Franken translates good ideas into practical and useful skills.
He comes to the task of research and writing with theological
preparation at Western Theological Seminary in Holland,
Michigan. He spent most of his life showing people how to mend
and prevent personal problems. He puts that into his writings.
Dr. Franken identifies himself as being theological
evangelical, with a Type A personality, who generally
has “too much hay on his fork.” He is a great-grandson
of one of the settlers in Sioux Center, Iowa. He continues the
pioneering spirit of his great grandfather (Art) his
grandfather (Evert) and his father Rev. Henry E. Franken.
